Book Reviews
The Berlin Historical Review publishes academic reviews of history books to report on the most important contemporary historical scholarship. Academic reviews should maintain an effective balance between description, informed, analytical comment, and critical assessment. Please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions concerning books for review.
Reviewers are expected to write thoughtful and engaging critiques which explain the main argument of a book, evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, and situate it within historiographical context. Reviews should be written in a way that appeals to both academics and readers outside of the limits of the reviewer's area of specialisation.
Word Limit
Academic book reviews should be of approximately 450-2000 words in length. Please state author, title, date, publisher, number of pages, cost and ISBN at the top of your review. Also include any references cited in the text.
