Academic Commentaries & Columns

The Berlin Historical Review greatfully welcomes submissions from academics and professional historians. The journal publishes articles, reviews and academic commentaries  on any historical subject of the authors choice. It also aims to establish lasting relationships with authors who wish to make a regular contribution to the journal, for example, in the form of a frequent column or short commentary.

The Berlin Historical Review is an open-access research journal. Unlike other academic publishers it is self-funded and makes all its publications freely available to both specialists and non-specialists, universities and individuals. It wishes to help spread the most recent historical research and scholarly articles of high quality in order to make a contribution to historical knowledge and to make academic research accessible to everyone.

Please contact the Editor-in-Chief, Julia Kompe, via e-mail if you are interested in supporting the Berlin Historical Review's mission and wish to discuss the subject and scope of your article: theberlinhistoricalreview@hotmail.com .

Word Limit

There is no set word limit for professional contributions. However, we generally advise authors to keep submissions within the limit of approximately 500-12000 words in length. In some cases we might consider submissions outside of this limit, but we ask authors to contact the editorial board prior to submission.
